BBC orders second helping of Silk

Legal eagles Rupert Penry-Jones and Maxine Peake in 'Silk'

theartsdesk readers were aghast and appalled when BBC One supremo Danny Cohen cancelled detective series Zen after a paltry three episodes. However, he has made amends of a sort by commissioning a second series of Peter Moffat's legal drama Silk, after series one ended last night.

Quite pleased to hear that Silk is to be recommissioned, but didn't imagine it would be any other way given that it featured so much the BBC's talent - MP, RP-J and Peter Moffat. But I ( and I have to say everyone I've spoken to about it) are still appalled at and depressed by Cohen's decision to axe the gorgeous and inordinately sexy Zen. It really was the only bright light in a long, dark winter, on and off the screen. What would finish me off for good would be to hear that Survivors is coming back for a third series - enough to make anyone develop swine flu.

I thoroughly enjoyed this programme because it was exactly how Barristers and Chambers work and perform. My experience as a Solicitor shows that Barristers are the best actors in the world but this does not bely their skill at interpreting the law and identifying areas for exploitation to defend their client and protect the public. Well done! Lets have more of this excellent series - and soon!! Jo Birmingham

Would I want for my (lower case c) solicitor someone who capitalises his profession and doesn't (rather than doesnt) know where his apostrophes should go? I rest my case.

i really liked silk I thought it was really fantastic maxin Peake did a really good job she is a really good actor I want to be a actress on silk but i know it will never happen I know good acting skills the cast of silk really worked hard pull off the program i just hope it will come back in no time By Abbie Will Aged 14
