Andy McCluskey (b 1959) is singer and frontman of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, one of the most successful groups of the late Seventies and early Eighties electro-pop boom. They reformed five years ago but have been in no rush to dive into things, finally releasing a new album, History of Modern, this autumn.

This was a candid interview. I've never heard Andy comment on drug usage before. In the end, he's right. The new album is [apart from three numbers I don't care for] their strongest material since "Dazzle Ships." I rate "History of Modern" as their 4th best album overall. When I received my copy, it dominated my listening for a month like nothing had in over 20 years.

Some ten years ago I made my own sampler with "Best of", and like to listen to it - damn, they were good. And this voice... But for me "Dazzle Ship" is a rare master piece, and the only OMD album that I listen entirely. In vinyl, because it sound much better than from CD.
