Plastician returns to grime
In a surprise move, DJ/producer Plastician (real name Chris Reed) has unveiled a new self-produced release due on his own Terrorhythm record label at the end of this month, consisting of two tracks of retro grime rhythms.
In the early days of dubstep and grime, Plastician (originally Plastic Man, but renamed to avoid confustion with Richie Hawtin's Plastikman guise) was one of the few producers to span both scenes, but has lately tended towards dubstep in his DJ sets and productions - and indeed was one of the key figures in introducing dubstep to the USA. His return to the most aggressive side of the grime sound coincides with renewed interest in the genre's production (as opposed to its rappers), and should be a major boost to its resurgence.
