Plastician returns to grime

Submitted by joe.muggs on Mon, 26/03/2012 - 09:56

In a surprise move, DJ/producer Plastician (real name Chris Reed) has unveiled a new self-produced release due on his own Terrorhythm record label at the end of this month, consisting of two tracks of retro grime rhythms.

In the early days of dubstep [1] and grime, Plastician (originally Plastic Man, but renamed to avoid confustion with Richie Hawtin [2]'s Plastikman guise) was one of the few producers to span both scenes, but has lately tended towards dubstep in his DJ sets and productions - and indeed was one of the key figures in introducing dubstep to the USA. His return to the most aggressive side of the grime sound [3] coincides with renewed interest in the genre's production (as opposed to its rappers), and should be a major boost to its resurgence.
